Things that I wish my parents cared enough to teach me:

i. You can’t just be fixed, it doesn’t work that way. You’re not a machine, you don’t come with a step by step manual. Use your pain to move along, stop thinking that you’re broken and need someone to fix you because you’re the only person who can make or break you.

ii. If you don’t trust someone to the point that they’re always making you jealous, then it’s not real because you shouldn’t have to worry about them looking at someone else when they have you.

iii. You’re the only person who can make you feel beautiful, it starts with loving yourself and nothing else anyone says will dictate how you see yourself unless you let it get to you.

iv. “If you love and get hurt, love more. If you love more and hurt more, love even more. If you love even more and get hurt even more, love some more until it hurts no more…” -William Shakespeare

Most things will be okay eventually, but not everything will be. Sometimes you’ll put up a good fight and lose. Sometimes you’ll hold on really hard and realize there is no choice but to let go.
